Kirkcudbright is Dumfries and Galloways Artist Town and has been home to many artists over the years, including Jessie M. King, E.A Hornel, E.A Taylor and Charles Oppenheimer. Many artists are resident in Kirkcudbright and the town is also popular with visiting artists. Kirkcudbright has a busy, active harbour and is situated on the estuary of the River Dee. MacLellans Castle in the centre of the town is popular with tourists as is the Tolbooth, a former Town Hall, Prison and Courthouse, now an art gallery. |
