Wigtown is situated in the Machars, Dumfries and
Galloway and is Scotlands National Book Town. With no less than
25 bookshops or book related services book-lovers can spend hours
browsing amongst a huge variety of books. However, Wigtown is also

include an archeological dig, St Ninians Cave, a working distillery

Port William is an example of a planned village, lying on the eastern
shore of Luce Bay in Galloway, founded by Sir William Maxwell of Monreith
in 1770. The harbour, built for the convenience of his tenant farners
was one of the first in western Galloway.

Whithorn
VISIT the exciting new exhibition at the Whithorn Visitor Centre,

artefacts which are now on display in the Centre. The richly coloured
exhibition uses the artefacts, including the magnificent 12th century
crozier, figures, models and replicas to guide you through the history
